The way the SawJETô operates is revolutionary. Most stone countertops are shaped in such a way that they have many straight lines. The saw head on the SawJETô rotates 360 degrees and is fully programmable, which enables the saw to make straight cuts in any direction on the slab. Straight edges can be cut five to six times faster with a saw blade than with a traditional abrasive waterjet and without the high operation cost of conventional machines. The SawJETô also enables the fabricator to machine small granite or quartz parts without the use of backer boards or plastic or rubber bumpers, which can compress and cause stone to crack.
The NW-127 features a single table configuration and a 50 Hp abrasive waterjet with a standard 10 HP saw (a 15 HP saw unit is a standard option). The saw unit is capable of running 10î to 14î saw blades. KMT IntensifierHow Waterjet WorksThe energy required for cutting materials is obtained by pressurizing water to ultra-high pressures, and forming an intense cutting stream by focusing this high-speed water through a small, precious-diamond orifice.
There are two main steps involved in the waterjet cutting process. First, the ultra-high pressure pump or intensifier pressurizes normal tap water at pressure levels up to 60,000 psi (4,137 bar); to produce the energy required for cutting. Second, water is then focused through a small precious diamond orifice to form an intense cutting stream. The stream moves at a velocity of Mach 3, three times the speed of sound, depending on how the water pressure is exerted. The process is applicable to both water only and abrasive jets.
